Why is a Will so important for your loved ones?

Let’s assume you plant an apple tree. Every day, you care for it by providing water and fertilisers. The tree grows and provides you beautiful apples. You protect the tree and its fruits from disease, theft and destruction so that you can enjoy the fruits with your loved ones. But when you are not around, who will look after the tree and protect it? Will the tree die from lack of care? Will the fruits get stolen? Will the children fight over the fruits?

The same goes for your assets. When you are not around, how do you ensure your loved ones get what you want them to get and that the assets are not wasted or lost or fought over? This is why you need a Will and proper estate planning.

Do I need a Will?

✅ Are you married?

✅ Do you have any dependant(s) (young children / elderly parents / special needs child)?

✅ Do you know that you can appoint the Guardian of your choice for your children in your Will?

✅ Do you know that your assets will be frozen upon death?

✅ Do you know that if you do not write your Will, the law will take over and control your wealth distribution?

✅ Do you know that you can protect and preserve your assets for your next generation?

✅Have you written your Will?

If you answer more No than Yes in your survey, perhaps you should look into planning your estate plan to protect your loved ones.

Why do I need a Will?

Without a Will, your assets could be more burdensome than beneficial to your family at a time when they are most vulnerable. The distribution involved can be a long legal process especially if there is a dispute.

You should never assume that your assets would automatically go to the person you want to benefit. Given them security by making a Will and the law will protect your wishes.
